Are Your Friends really Your True Friends or They are Just Merely Acquaintances?

Some incidents took place recently that set me pondering. People whom we have know for days, months or years... are they considered as our true friends? Or they are just merely passing crowd who happened to enter into our lives at that moment of time? What is your definition of a true friend?
I know this is kind of an old tag line. A true friend will be there whenever you need the person. A true friend lends you their listening ears and shoulders to cry on if you ever need to. A true friend forgives and forgets, accepts all your faults and bears with all the possible nonsense that you could come up with. A true friend will be understanding and know that all have their own lives to lead. All these traits seem to be describing your other half right? To me, these traits would also be describing someone whom I can really call as a TRUE FRIEND.
It is sad and disappointing to know that people whom you deemed as true or good friends, could easily come and hurt you with their thinking and words. Words that should have been thought through carefully, run through a few times in their brains to know whether to say a not. Words that are never meant to hurt you and never meant to make you sad... cos a true friend will say things that are meant for your own good, never offending and never with the motive to harm you. A true friend will stand side by side with you and not be wavered with whatever people have to say about you. In fact, they should be defending you if they know that people are making groundless accusation about you. That's what friends are for ain't it?
I am a simple girl with a simple mind. I always think that no matter how busy each other could be, as long as we know that we do take time to think about each other, do make efforts to meet up, do take time to msg / email and sending regards to one another... even if we really do not have time to go out as often as last time, that does not mean that they are disregarded as my friends. A true friend does not have to declare, do things and show the whole world how good a friend he / she is. We all have our own eyes to see and I do believe we are old enough to make our own judgement rather than to talk behind one's back. True friends would not be afraid to talk things out face to face, no matter how ugly things might get as we all just meant well for one another. It's always good to iron things out rather than just being influenced by what people have to say and you just go with the flow. Reminds me of "Qiang Tou Cao". With no backing and could not stand on its own.
I believe that things happen for a reason and incidents just show us what kind of people are around us. Have we made a mistake to treasure them and regard them as true friends or they are just people whom we shouldn't even waste a minute to be bothered about? I have fallen a few times and I am glad that I have true friends around to understand me, support me and to lend me their ears, staying around with me no matter how late it is.
On a happier note... Went out with Dearie on both Fri and Sat. Met Yvonne on Fri and Shan & Mervyn on Sat. Shan & Mervyn are also getting married. Happy for her!
Didn't really have time to meet her and was glad we could meet up. We went for Movie, shopping at Metro, Dinner at Spagdetties, Toast at Ah Mei Cafe and some photo-takings. I also took pics on the day I met Yvonne. Here they are... Loving the Sepia pic that I have taken with Dearie... Hugz.
Fruitful & Meaningful Weekend... :)

Hehe... the cake looks nice right?? From Pine Garden's Cake. They showcased some wedding cakes and "Guo Da Li" stuff. Looking nice nice! Go to their website to see more cakes design. http://www.pgcake.com/ I told Dearie we can consider them for Wedding treats or "Guo Da "Li". :)
Among the goodies, I also got some stamps. Simply love them! They are being put in the "Thank You" Card from Tung Lok and the card is really pretty. I told Dearie I would want to stick them on my workstation. Guess need to laminate them as well. Keep them as they are. hehe...
We left after the food tasting and viewing of the showcase. Headed over to Marina Square. Went to John Little once again. This time round, bought pillows for myself and my mum, while Dearie bought for his Dad and 2nd Bro. There were so many people there! My mum actually asked me to buy the bedsheets that I bought on Friday if there are some nice designs. Didn't manage to buy any cos... it was swept clean! Saw people taking the boxes though. Was glad that me and Dearie managed to grab some on Fri cos at least, we have the opportunity to choose rather than not to have any choices at all.
Anyway, Dearie brought me to get me my early bday present. He was wondering what to get for me as he mentioned that seemed like I do not really need most things as I have already gotten them. He told me on Thursday what he had thought of getting me as a bday present. Made me so happy and touched that Dearie thought it through on what is the gift for me. He noticed something lacking. Said I would like it and would be using it often on us in the future. Kept me wondering a while what could tat be. Hehe... Anyone could guess correctly based on what Dearie said? Well... here are my presents! :)
